In honor of my beloved Abby, whose beauty rested in that rare place between dog and wolf.

Taking its title from a French idiom, between dog and wolf, reveals the internal and external conflicts that come from clouded perceptions and opposing truths. A meditation on the elusive nature of reality, the work asks audiences to consider personal, nuanced proclivities and the ways our eyes and hearts can deceive us.

The people of flow and god, imagined they existed between dog and wolf. They burn through the floor – revealing their love for each other. They are inseparable beings, supportive, in a pack. You blink and their union turns to revulsion. A crumb of fear and doubt blooms like mold. There is a pack leader – or are there 2 leaders? Or 3? Feral edges and urgent pacing, interrupted and pushed against. Is this devotion? There is a will to not close the space of connection. In this shelter – a place of refuge. No roof, walls or windows. Here, we rehearse our arrival to a home, and a shelter that is not there.
