STAIBDANCE SUMMER INTENSIVE IN ITALY
CODE OF CONDUCT 

This Code of Conduct shall apply to all participants of the staibdance Summer Intensive Program in Sorrento, Italy. This Code seeks to set standards and guidelines for the development of desirable conduct among participants which will promote the dignity, integrity and public image of the dance profession and staibdance. 

The embodiment of professionalism is composed of ethical responsibilities highlighted in this document. All Summer Intensive participants represent staibdance, and, as outlined below, are expected to act maturely and behave responsibly. 

  • All students shall extend due respect to their peers and faculty, and be willing to work with them professionally, regardless of age, sex, nationality, ethnic origin, status, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion or political affiliation, qualification or personal differences.  

  • Participants are expected to abide by the laws of the local government as well as the preferences of Hotel Montana. Students will be familiarized with important legal considerations upon arrival at the hotel. 

  • We are guests of the spaces we visit and inhabit during the summer intensive in Italy. Students are expected to treat these spaces with respect, refraining from behaviors that may damage the spaces, purposely or accidentally, and restore spaces to their original set-up and clean up when they leave.

  • staibdance Summer Intensive in Italy does not have an established curfew, but students are expected to maintain quiet hours in the hotel after 10 pm on weeknights and after 11pm on weekend nights. Hotel Montana will institute a 50 euro fine per room after receipt of three noise complaints and for every noise complaint thereafter.

  • Participants are expected to attend all classes, arrive on time, and be physically and mentally prepared to participate fully.

  • Participants are expected to attend all rehearsals for the final performance, with the exception of absence for serious illness or injury. If a student misses more than two rehearsals without notifying staibdance faculty or staff, they forfeit the opportunity to perform. 

staibdance has established the Code of Conduct above. Should a student violate any part of the Code, they will be asked to a disciplinary meeting with staibdance Summer Intensive staff: George Staib and Patsy Collins (by phone or in person). Three infractions of the above could result in the loss of performance privileges. 

Any student found in violation of a local law may be turned over to civil authorities or local law enforcement agencies if deemed necessary. Where property has been vandalized, maliciously destroyed, or misused, replacement, maintenance or repair charges will be paid by the student(s) responsible. 

If a student poses a pressing and imminent danger to themselves or the staibdance Summer Intensive community, faculty or staff may immediately remove the student, may order the student escorted from the premises and/or may direct local police to issue and enforce an order banning the student from contact with the remainder of the Summer Intensive program. Furthermore, the student will need to negotiate and pay for their own transportation home.
