staibdance (founded 2007) is a nationally-recognized contemporary dance company that focuses on the provocative power of movement.
As part of the High Museum’s Dance Lab initiative, staibdance is using the Anne Cox Chambers Wing Lobby as an incubator space for the creation of their newest work, ARARAT, premiering October 26-28 at the Schwartz Center for Performing Arts.

ARARAT considers the history and resilience of the Armenian people following a genocide that claimed 1.5 million lives. Rooted in survivor stories, and parallel investigations toward newness, the trajectory of the work illuminates the countenance of the human spirit.

In the words of Artistic Director George Staib, “this important venture is a reflection upon a widely denied historical event that profoundly shaped an ancient culture into one of courage, adaptation and pride. For anyone who has fought for their own identity to be recognized; the sentiments could be mirrored.”

Funding for ARARAT’s rehearsal process is provided by the Fulton County Board of Commissioners
